Aug 1 - Sep 1 Wattenbarger Ships at the History Museum
The Wattenbarger Ships exhibit opened earlier this summer and will be on display through the rest of the summer. Dr. James Wattenbarger constructed sailing vessels that were replicas of actual ships that sailed in the 1600s and 1700s.

The History Museum staff have combined the exhibit with the 20-year anniversary of an adventure some Cookeville boys actually took aboard a ship back in 1988 from Poland to Argentina. The exhibit will feature artifacts from that trip including a flag signed by the boys

The History Museum is open Wed-Sat from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Tuesday night Adult 6-on-6 COED Volleyball League starting August 5.

Registration deadline is Saturday, August 2. Teams can register by calling 931-526-9767 or come by the Cane Creek Gymnasium located behind the Sportsplex. Rules will be available by July 12. Schedules will be available August 3.

Cost: $100 per team - Ages 16 and up are welcome.

Aug 8 The After Dark Race for the Park
The Race for the Park, the inaugural benefit for Dogwood Park, will begin Cookeville\'s Dogwood Park at 8:58 p.m. and will finish at the Park. The race is an 8K run for ages 13 and up and will feature luminaries along the spine of the figure eight down Historic Dixie Avenue. The nonrefundable fees are $25 for early registration and $30 after the deadline or the day of the race. Early registration deadline ends July 21.

Aug 23 7th Annual YMCA Garden Gala

The Annual Garden Gala is an elegant evening of dinner, drinks, entertainment and fellowship to support our We Build People campaign. The live and silent auctions as well as the VIP tent are the highlights of the Gala. This year will be a themed night strait out of the 20’s which will be ‘A step back in time and an investment in our future’. It promises to be our biggest and best ever!

The forum is hosted by the Chamber Medical Development Committee. It is a free forum and is the second in a series of monthly, open-to-the-public events that will provide members of the community an opportunity to get answers about health-related issues.

There will be an informal atmosphere - with no structured program - so participants can ask questions about any health-related issue that is of concern. Members of the Medical Development Committee, along with physicians and other healthcare providers, will be on hand to answer questions.

A light lunch will be provided by Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
